Plus, below are several resources for you to get involved with guiding blind/visually impaired athletes. You can get involved through running/walking, cycling, triathlons, and more. Volunteers are often needed as well. So check out the links below!
Guide Runner Search:
Ivonne is a totally blind Paralympic 1500 meter runner. She needs a Guide runner to train and race with her, and work together to realize her Paralympic dream. Could that Guide Runner be you?
Guide Runner Requirements
*Height- Be 5ft 6inches or shorter
*Speed- Run a sub 4:30 mile
*Availability- ASAP, from now through September 18, 2016
*Daily schedule- AM and PM workouts Monday-Saturday
*Flexibility- Travel to competitions across the U.S and to other countries
*U.S. Citizen - current passport preferred
**No guiding experience required**
Guide Runner Benefits:
*Housing & meals at the Olympic Training Center in Southern California
*Training with elite athletes and staff
*Coaching from Joaquim Cruz, Olympic Gold & Silver Medalist in the 800 meters
**If Ivonne makes the podium, Guide Runner will also receive a medal**
*Travel across the U.S. and abroad
*Monthly stuypend
